- Precision Wires India Ltd. (PWIL) is a Public Limited Company listed on Bombay Stock Exchange(BSE) & National Stock Exchange(NSE).
PWIL was promoted in 1989 by (erstwhile) Atlas Wires Limited (AWL) for the manufacture of
Enamelled Copper Winding Wires. AWL's first manufacturing facility was established in 1981. AWL amalgamated with PWIL in 2001.
- PWIL is the largest Indian manufacturer of Copper Winding Wires using
world standard technology with foreign trained personnel.
- Extremely rigorous and systematic testing procedures are routinely followed to ensure excellence in the
quality of wires. Our effective installed capacity of winding wire (Round & Rectangular combined)
is currently above 25000 MT/annum which is the highest in India. This is further being increased to above 35000 MT/annum
by 2010. At present PWIL has three plants.
- PWIL’s current production range of Copper Winding Wires is as under:
- Enamelled Round Winding Wire between 5.00 mm to 0.05 mm (including equivalent
in SWG and AWG sizes)
- Enamelled Rectangular Winding Wires with cross sectional area from
3 sqmm to 75 sqmm
- Continuously Transposed Conductors (CTC) from 5 strands to 43 strands.
- Paper, Mica, Nomex™ insulated bare/enamelled conductors; single and bunched
- PWIL’s produces winding wires as per various technical specifications including IEC, IS, BS, NEMA,
JIS and also as per specific technical requirements of our customers.
- PWIL caters directly to many large and medium manufacturers of electrical and electronic equipment
of international repute. Customers are also serviced through a well built network of branches and
stockists all over the country. PWIL wires are widely used by manufacturers of:-
- Rotating machines (manufacturer and repairer)
- Alternators
- Hermetic motors (for refrigeration and air conditioning equipment)
- Power and Distribution Transformers
- Control and Power supply Transformers
- Ballasts
- Auto Electricals
- Electric hand Tools
- House hold appliances
- Fans
- Switchgear, relay and magnet coils
- Instruments and audio coils and many others
Besides catering to a wide variety of customers in India, PWIL is increasingly targeting export markets.
At present, export oriented volumes are about 15% of the total production.
Technology Transfer Agreement Between PWIL and M/s. ESSEX Italy S.p.A. :
PWIL has entered into a long term Technology Transfer Agreement with ESSEX Italy for manufacture of
Continuously Transposed Conductors (CTC), Enamelled Copper Strips and various other types of Rectangular Insulated Winding Wires.
ESSEX Italy is a world leader in the manufacture of Rectangular Insulated Conductors and is one of the largest and most remowned global producers of CTC.
The above Agreement gives PWIL full access to the latest Technology for all the above products as well as comprehensive training of personnel.
Many PWIL personnel have undergone extensive training by ESSEX Italy both in India and abroad.
On account of the above Agreement, PWIL is assured continuous and constant Technology, Training, Support and Backup on a long term basis for all the above
products which will no doubt help to increase the level of Customer Confidence.
